Wisconsin football recruiting: Three-star punter Anthony Lotti commits to Badgers

Sound the punter commit siren!

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Wisconsin's scorching recruiting streak has continued into July as three-star punter Anthony Lotti from Oakwood (West Hall), Ga., has made a verbal commitment to the Badgers.

This is another promising addition to a what has already been a very strong recruiting class. Drew Meyer will graduate after this season, so Meyer will compete with P.J. Rosowski, who will be a redshirt sophomore by the time Lotti gets on campus.

Lotti is the the No. 2 punter in the country, according to 247Sports' composite rankings. He chose Wisconsin over offers from Air Force and Boston College; Cincinnati, Georgia and Georgia Tech were also interested in him.

Lotti was a consensus first-team all-state punter by most Georgia sportswriters and averaged 45.2 yards per punt. The Badgers appear to have locked in a very consistent punter for the foreseeable future.

Lotti is Wisconsin's 14th commitment for Wisconsin's 2016 class and, obviously, the first special teams player.
