Wisconsin football recruiting: Latest on Jamil Kamara; Badgers on commit watch?

Are the Badgers on commit watch again?

Soobum Im-USA TODAY Sports

Another weekend equaled another verbal commitment for the Wisconsin Badgers football program with the addition of Salisbury, Conn., tight end Jake Hescock Friday evening.

That made eight verbal commits for Wisconsin in June and 13 total verbals for the class of 2016. That places Wisconsin 26th in the 247Sports composite, Scout.com and Rivals.com team rankings.

One name surfacing as a possible future Badger is former Virginia wide receiver Jamil Kamara, who left for a visit to Madison on Friday but returned to Virginia on Saturday without verbally committing to Wisconsin. UW is the favorite to land the former four-star receiver out of Virginia Beach (Bishop Sullivan Catholic), Va. but no formal announcement had been made as of Saturday evening.

Wisconsin keeping tabs with Simpkins

The Badgers have interest in Hollywood (Hallandale), Fla., athlete/wide receiver Demari Simpkins. The composite three-star recruit has acknowledged the Badgers have caught his attention ($).

Simpkins' tape shows that he supplies terrific breakaway speed. At 6'0, he could open more crossing routes and receiver screens, which would force opposing defenses to not load the box in preparation for Wisconsin's running game.

Simpkins has offers from Cincinnati, South Florida and Utah, among others.

Wisconsin heads back to Desoto for Green-er pastures

The Badgers are in search of another cornerback to add to the 2016 class and hope Desoto, Texas, native A.J. Green can fill that void. The Badgers are in familiar territory after signing former Desoto standout, linebacker Chris Orr, in the 2015 class. Green has yet to visit but says he is interested in the Badgers ($).

At 6'1, Green has good size to match up with formidable receivers. He has above-average technique and can more then hold his own in man coverage.

The composite three-star cornerback holds offers from many Big 12 programs like Texas Tech, Oklahoma State and Oklahoma, along with Arizona State, Missouri and Utah.

Decision time for Ian Peterson?

Austin (Cedar Ridge), Texas, cornerback Ian Peterson announced he would verbally commit on Saturday evening. The three-star recruit noted his top five on Friday, which included the Badgers.

However, it appears Peterson will wait until Sunday to make his announcement. Could the Badgers receive their first cornerback verbal commitment from the 5'11, 175-pound Texas native?
