Two Wisconsin Badgers walk-on football players received great news Wednesday.
A tweet first by junior safety Leo Musso (h/t Fox Sports Wisconsin's Dave Heller), later confirmed by B5Q and on Twitter by the Wisconsin athletic department, announced junior running back Dare Ogunbowale and sophomore linebacker Jack Cichy would be put on scholarship.
Ogunbowale moved from cornerback to running back and played in all 14 games in 2014, rushing for 5.7 yards per carry and a touchdown. Most of the Milwaukee native's carries were seen late in games as the No. 3 running back behind Melvin Gordon and Corey Clement, but Ogunbowale earned praise from Gordon for picking up the position quickly.
Cichy, a sophomore from Somerset, Wis., redshirted in 2014 but recorded one tackle in 2013.
Walk-ons have made a significant impact on the Wisconsin Badgers football program since the arrival of former head coach and current athletic director Barry Alvarez in 1990. B5Q chronicled many of their journeys in 2013.
