National Signing Day 2015: FB/LB Jake Whalen signs with Wisconsin

The Wausau West prospect is expected to play fullback at Wisconsin.

Jake Whalen was a late addition to Wisconsin's 2015 recruiting class, picking the Badgers over Iowa earlier this week. He was initially offered a spot as a preferred walk-on, and then that offer became a full ride. Considering the Badgers have Derek Watt, Austin Ramesh and Derek Straus at fullback, Whalen seems destined for a redshirt in 2015. But considering the program's reputation for recruiting and developing in-state prospects, Whalen's addition to the class is welcomed.

He also received offers from Air Force, Army, Buffalo, Eastern Illinois, Northern Iowa, South Dakota, South Dakota State and Southern Illinois. Big Ten rivals Michigan State, Minnesota and Nebraska also showed interest in Whalen at varying times.
