National Signing Day 2015: TE David Edwards signs with Wisconsin

As one of Wisconsin's two promising tight end signees for 2015, David Edwards comes to Madison with the chance to follow in a long line of successful Badgers at the position.

David Edwards originally committed to Wisconsin during camp last summer. Primarily used as a quarterback in high school, Edwards' size and athleticism will be a welcomed addition to the offense run by Paul Chryst. As noted in an interview with 247Sports Edwards relishes his athleticism in creating opportunities not only for himself but for the entire offense.

"I'm an anchor, I'll be their blocking tight end and split out and create mismatches against linebackers and safeties and make my money in play action," he added.

Edwards joins Grayslake native Titus Booker as the Illinois natives in Wisconsin's 2015 class.

Edwards picked Wisconsin over offers from Illinois, Iowa, Syracuse and Vanderbilt. Some schools were interested in Edwards as a quarterback or even offensive tackle, but he will join Kyle Penniston as a tight end. Former Badger offensive line coach T.J. Woods was initially responsible for recruiting Edwards with Mickey Turner helping to reassure the commitment since coming on board as part of Chryst's staff.
