Moorman verbally pledged to the Badgers not long after receiving the initial offer from the Wisconsin coaching staff in early May. Former Wisconsin assistants Jeff Genyk and T.J. Woods are credited with wooing the 6'5, 275-pound recruit initially to Madison. Despite the changeover in regime from former head coach Gary Andersen to Paul Chryst, and even a mid-January offer from Penn State, the Scout 300 athlete maintained his verbal commitment to the Badgers.

Aside from the Nittany Lions, Moorman received known offers from Cincinnati, Northern Illinois and Big Ten rivals Purdue, Minnesota and Illinois.
