Along with fellow running back signee Jordan Stevenson, Bradrick Shaw could be part of one of the most talented young Wisconsin backfields in recent memory.

After passing up offers from SEC powerhouses Alabama, Ole Miss and South Carolina, running back Bradrick Shaw officially signed with Wisconsin on Wednesday. Coming in listed as a 6'1, 205-pound running back from Birmingham, Ala. (Hoover), Shaw will look to make an immediate impact at the running back position following the departure of 2014 Heisman Trophy finalist Melvin Gordon.

Although Shaw will have to travel almost 1,000 miles from home to play for the Badgers, the powerful rusher is excited about the offense and environment he will be taking part in.

In an interview with AL.com, Shaw stated that he liked the way Wisconsin utilized Gordon in its rushing offense the past two seasons.

"They like downhill runners," Shaw said. "I think I fit in pretty well. I like getting downhill and they have great offensive lineman to block."

It wasn't just the football schemes and reputation that drew Shaw to Wisconsin. The versatile back developed an early chemistry with current players and coaches on the team during his Sept. 27 visit.

"I got to spend time with with a lot of the coaches down there. It was great hanging with the players. I really enjoyed it down there."

In addition to Alabama, Ole Miss and South Carolina extending offers to Shaw, Vanderbilt, Minnesota, Mississippi State and Nebraska did the same. With Wisconsin's proven success at the running back position and recent hiring of offensive guru Paul Chryst as head coach, it became no surprise Shaw made a commitment to one of the best running back schools in the nation.

Shaw's signing bolsters the Badgers' backfield for the next few seasons. He will be joining Jordan Stevenson as as a running back commit for Wisconsin in 2015. While the Badgers didn't recruit many backs this cycle, the depth chart for next fall is quite crowded. Behind Corey Clement is Taiwan Deal and Caleb Kinlaw, plus Stevenson.
