USA Today named their first and second team All-Americans on Tuesday, and Wisconsin linebacker Joe Schobert was named a starting linebacker for the second team.
It's been a storybook season for the former walk-on, who finished the 2015 regular season with 73 tackles, 19 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, 1 interception, 2 fumble recoveries and 4 force fumbles. Schobert truly evolved as a play-maker on the defensive side of the ball for the Badgers, and has transformed himself from an after-thought in the eyes of the greater college football landscape, to a future NFL draft pick.
Schobert was one of the leaders of what was an incredibly stout Wisconsin defense, and he deserves every ounce of praise he is receiving. Congratulations, Joe.
The Big Ten was well represented on both teams, with numerous other players making the cut.
First Team- Jack Conklin, Michigan State (OT); Joey Bosa, Ohio State (DL); Jourdan Lewis, Michigan (CB); Desmond King, Iowa (CB)
Second Team- Ezekiel Elliott, Ohio State (RB); Jack Allen, Michigan State (OL); Taylor Decker, Ohio State (OL); Carl Nassib, Penn State (DL); Schobert (LB); Will Likely, Maryland (RET)
