Wisconsin basketball recruiting: Badgers offer 2018 SG Tyler Herro

UW extends its first scholarship offer under Greg Gard to an in-state shooting guard.

It didn't take long for Greg Gard to make one of his first offers as interim head coach of the Wisconsin Badgers.

Greenfield, Wis. (Whitnall), shooting guard Tyler Herro tweeted that he received an offer from Gard and the Badgers on Thursday.

The sophomore is a three-star recruit by 247Sports' composite and Scout.com. According to 247Sports, he is currently ranked as the No. 81 best overall prospect in the class of 2018, and the No. 3 recruit in the state of Wisconsin. Aside from being a standout guard for the Falcons, he plays for the Wisconsin Playground Warriors in AAU.

Herro excels both scoring off the drive and his jump shot. Furthermore, he has excellent court vision and makes passes with excellent precision and timing, especially for a sophomore. As he gets older, these skills will only continue to improve.

As of now, Herro currently has early offers from Creighton, DePaul, Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Wisconsin-Green Bay, and Sam Houston State. An early commitment from Herro would also help provide stability to Gard's head coaching future. But only time will tell to see where he lands. Hopefully, Herro will be donning the Red and White of Wisconsin in a few years, as he looks to be a great potential addition to the Badgers.
