Wisconsin falls out of AP Top 25, coaches poll after 1-1 start

Mary Langenfeld-USA TODAY Sports

After a 1-1 start that began with a stunning loss to Western Illinois in the season opener, the Wisconsin Badgers fell out of the AP Top 25 and coaches poll released on Monday.

As the Wisconsin State Journal's Jim Polzin points out, this marks the first time Wisconsin is outside the AP Top 25 since the week of Feb. 3, 2014. A 1-5 stretch that season cooled the momentum of a 16-0 start, but the Badgers eventually made their first of two consecutive Final Four runs.

The Badgers recovered from the Western Illinois loss with a 92-65 win over Siena on Sunday night. They next play Tuesday night against North Dakota at the Kohl Center.
