It's a great start to the class of 2017 for the Wisconsin Badgers.

Scottsdale (Saguaro), Ariz., offensive lineman Kayden Lyles, brother of Wisconsin quarterback commit Kare Lyles, verbally committed to the Badgers on Thursday. The four-star recruit announced via Twitter just minutes after four-star defensive lineman Garrett Rand verbally pledged to the Badgers as well for the class of 2016.

The 6'3, 300-pound Lyles is the first known verbal commitment for Wisconsin in the class of 2017. He has offers from a plethora of power-five powerhouses, including Ohio State, Michigan State, UCLA, USC and Notre Dame.

Lyles holds the following rankings from the scouting services:

  • 247Sports:  Four stars, No. 128 overall (2017), No. 4 OG, No. 3 Ariz. overall prospect, 92 rating
  • 247Sports (composite): Four stars, No. 95 overall (2017), No. 4 OG, No. 3 Ariz. overall prospect, .09570 rating
  • Rivals: Four stars, No. 87 overall (2017), No. 5 OG, No. 2 Ariz., 5.9 rating
  • Scout: Four stars, No. 89 overall (2017), No. 3 G, No. 02 West OG, No. 1 Ariz. OG

Kayden joins brother Kare -- a three-star quarterback in the class of 2016 -- in verbally committing to Wisconsin. Their father, Kevin, played for the Badgers from 1993-96

Lyles, heading into his junior season, impressed in this spring's The Opening Regionals in Oakland, Calif., making it to the "Final 5" for offensive linemen vs. defensive linemen as seen below.
