The University of Wisconsin and AT&T announced a partnership Tuesday to bring a high-density WiFi network and IPTV system to Camp Randall Stadium this fall.
The WiFi network will allow fans throughout the stadium -- from seats, concession stands, suites, clubs, ticketing and press box locations -- improved connectivity via 10 Gigabit switches, accompanying wireless controllers and more than 750 access points throughout the stadium and surrounding areas.
"We are thrilled with our collaboration with AT&T in enhancing the game-day fan experience at Camp Randall Stadium," UW athletic director Barry Alvarez said in a release. "Along with AT&T, we are creating a high standard for connectivity in our stadium and providing a wide variety of additional content to our fans. We want Badger football fans to have a memorable experience in our venue and this project will go a long way toward assisting us."
While the improved WiFi network will allow fans better Internet access to check scores while browsing the Interent and connecting to social media services, the IPTV system will allow the university "the ability to centrally manage and deliver customized video, team, sponsor and relevant event information to any combination of monitors throughout the venue."
Wisconsin's 2014 home opener at Camp Randall will be played Sept. 6 vs. Western Illinois. The season begins one week earlier, Aug. 30 vs. LSU in Houston.

"In-stadium connectivity is becoming an essential component of the game-day experience at stadiums across the country," said Scott T. VanderSanden, president of AT&T Wisconsin. "Whether fans are using mobile apps, texting, tweeting, checking email or surfing the Internet, they are looking for enhanced connectivity. The IPTV solution will transform the look and feel of Camp Randall through an innovative video and digital content distribution solution on nearly 700 high definition screens. It will provide the university with the ability to centrally manage and deliver customized video, team, sponsor and relevant event information to any combination of monitors throughout the venue; create unique interactive opportunities to engage fans; and feature expanded content on three video walls placed throughout the venue.
