Frank Kaminsky named to preseason AP All-American team

The hype keeps on growing: Frank Kaminsky is a preseason All-American.

Frank Kaminsky already picked up preseason Big Ten Player of the Year and all-conference honors. Next on the list was a preseason All-American nod from the Associated Press, and that indeed came on Monday. The AP unveiled the following preseason All-American team:

  • UNC G Marcus Paige (JR)
  • Wichita State G Fred Van Vleet (JR)
  • Duke F Jahlil Okafor (FR)
  • Louisville F Montrezl Harrell (JR)
  • Wisconsin C Frank Kaminsky (SR)

Kaminsky averaged 13.9 points and 6.3 rebounds per game for a Badgers squad that reached its first Final Four since 2000 last season. Wisconsin loses only shooting guard Ben Brust from its rotation, and with continued improvement expected from the likes of sophomores Nigel Hayes and Bronson Koenig, not to mention Kaminsky's fellow All-Big Ten selection in junior Sam Dekker, the Badgers are facing heavy expectations for the season. Wisconsin opened the season at No. 3 in the AP Top 25 and No. 4 in the Coaches Poll.

Dekker was also among several players to receive All-American votes. Here are the rest: Cliff Alexander, Kansas; Ron Baker, Wichita State; Ryan Boatright, UConn; Malcolm Brogdon, Virginia; Willie Cauley-Stein, Kentucky; Branden Dawson, Michigan State; Sam Dekker, Wisconsin; Perry Ellis, Kansas; Aaron Harrison, Kentucky; Andrew Harrison, Kentucky; Tyler Haws, BYU; Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, Arizona; Stanley Johnson, Arizona; Tyus Jones, Duke; Markus Kennedy, SMU; Caris LeVert, Michigan; Georges Niang, Iowa State; Kevin Pangos, Gonzaga; Terran Petteway, Nebraska; Alex Poythress, Kentucky; Chasson Randle, Stanford; Josh Scott, Colorado; Juwan Staten, West Virginia; Delon Wright, Utah.
