Wisconsin football recruiting: DE Andrew Ruzek accepts walk-on offer

The Badgers get an in-state prospect who could become a steal down the line.

There's been a lot of talk this year about how Wisconsin has gone national in recruiting. From the American Samoa all the way to New Jersey, the Badgers have seen prospects commit to them. On Saturday, they received a very interesting one as three-star defensive end Andrew Ruzek out of Stevens Point accepted the Badgers' offer to walk-on.

While Ruzek only received an offer from Illinois State, there are plenty of reasons to think he has a chance to be a part of the Badgers' future. For one thing, he has a frame tailor-made for a 3-4 defensive end in UW's defense (6'6, 240 lbs.) and he brings good speed and a real strength to the proceedings (as shown in the Hudl clip below). Secondly, a 247Sports composite three-star prospect accepting a walk-on offer is a rare day for any program. And of course, turning walk-ons into on-field talent is kind of what the Badgers do.

Ruzek will join David PfaffJake Pickard and Nate Howard at defensive end in a pretty loaded group of prospects.
