College Football Playoff rankings: Wisconsin jumps to No. 20, Nebraska down to No. 16

The College Football Playoff committee submitted its third edition of its top 25, which sees the Badgers jump five spots.

After a 34-16 road victory over the Purdue Boilermakers on Saturday afternoon, the Wisconsin Badgers jumped five spots in the College Football Playoff committee's Top 25 to No. 20.

There are now five teams from the Big Ten conference in the committee's Top 25 that was released Tuesday evening. Ohio State now sits at No. 8 -- jumping six spots from No. 14 to No. 8 after throttling Michigan State 49-37 Saturday. The Spartans are now the second-highest rank team from the B1G at No. 12 after falling four spots with the loss.

The Badgers' next opponent, the Nebraska Cornhuskers, dropped three spots in their bye week to No. 16, while Wisconsin is at No. 20. Minnesota jumps into the committee's rankings at No. 25 after not being ranked last week. This should be a fun month of key match-ups in the Big Ten West division, as all three teams are ranked and face each other in November (take THAT, Big Ten East!).

In the grand setting, the Oregon Ducks jumped to No. 2 in the rankings after beating now-No. 23 Utah 51-27 last Saturday, with TCU bouncing up into No. 4 after its win against now No. 13 Kansas State. Mississippi State still holds the top spot, and Florida State remains in the Top 4 at No. 3.

Among some of the biggest jumpers in the Top 25 are Arizona State (up eight spots to No. 6), Baylor (up six spots to No. 7), Ohio State, UCLA (now No. 11 after sitting at No. 18), Arizona, Georgia and Wisconsin (the latter three up five spots each).
