After an eventful, sort-of underwhelming non-conference slate, the Wisconsin Badgers begin Big Ten play Saturday afternoon at Northwestern. The Badgers (3-1) have won their last two games against the Wildcats (2-2, 1-0 Big Ten), but they haven't won in Evanston since 1999.

Here's the recent head-to-head results since then; all-time, Wisconsin is 56-32-4 against Northwestern.

Date School Opponent Pts Opp Streak
Oct 4, 2014 Wisconsin @ Northwestern 1
Oct 12, 2013 Wisconsin Northwestern W 35 6 W 2
Nov 27, 2010 Wisconsin Northwestern W 70 23 W 1
Nov 21, 2009 Wisconsin @ Northwestern L 31 33 L 1
Oct 7, 2006 Wisconsin Northwestern W 41 9 W 1
Oct 8, 2005 Wisconsin @ Northwestern L 48 51 L 1
Oct 23, 2004 Wisconsin Northwestern W 24 12 W 1
Oct 25, 2003 Wisconsin @ Northwestern L 7 16 L 2
Sep 23, 2000 Wisconsin Northwestern L 44 47 L 1
Oct 30, 1999 Wisconsin @ Northwestern W 35 19 W 3

When and where is the game?

The Badgers and Wildcats will play Saturday at 2:30 p.m. CT, at Ryan Field in Evanston, Illinois. Wisconsin has defeated Western Illinois, Bowling Green and South Florida, but lost to LSU in its season opener. Northwestern has defeated Western Illinois and Penn State, but lost to Cal and Northern Illinois.

The Badgers will be wearing their standard all-white away uniforms; we're still waiting to hear which combination the Wildcats will be sporting. It seems likely that they'll wear their standard home uniforms, though they did wear white pants in their last home game vs. Western Illinois.

How can I watch the game?

The game will air on ESPN2. That means you can also watch it online with ESPN's streaming option, WatchESPN. There is also a WatchESPN app for Android and iOS users. WatchESPN is free, as long as as you have a cable subscription that includes ESPN. You will need to login with your cable account information to watch the game.

The announcers for the game will be Eamon McAnaney, David Diaz-Infante and Dawn Davenport.

How can I listen to the game?

As usual, the Badger Sports Network will carry the game. Here is a list of all the Wisconsin affiliate stations. Matt Lepay, Mike Lucas and Patrick Herb once again have the call.

What should I know about the game?

A lot! For one, as mentioned above, it's Wisconsin's Big Ten opener. Northwestern is also always so dang pesky.

For the Badgers, there's also a chance Joel Stave will play. The junior quarterback was shut down for all of September after dealing with "the yips," a mental block that disrupted his throwing motion and made typically routine passes difficult. Coach Gary Andersen confirmed Stave is Wisconsin's No. 2 quarterback this weekend behind Tanner McEvoy.

Here's a collection of our best previews from the week:

I'm going to the game! How in the world do you tailgate in the Evanston?

Be cool -- B5Q's Drew Hamm has you covered with an insanely thorough list of bars and breweries throughout Chicago you should try. The most important thing you should know?

I'm sure most of you that are traveling to Chicago have already made plans for where you are going to stay, but if you haven't, DON'T STAY IN EVANSTON! It is super easy to get to Evanston via train from downtown Chicago. There is nothing you can do in Evanston that isn't five times better to do in Chicago (and five times more expensive, but I digress).

What else is going on in the Big Ten today?

A lot! Across college football, this is the first Big Weekend of the season. Yes, the Big Ten still sucks, but here's who's playing:

TIME (CT) MATCHUP TV
11:00 PM Purdue vs. Illinois ESPN2/WatchESPN
11:00 PM #20 Ohio State vs. Maryland ABC
1:30 PM North Texas vs. Indiana BTN
2:30 PM #17 Wisconsin vs. Northwestern ESPN2/WatchESPN
6:00 PM Michigan vs. Rutgers BTN
7:00 PM #19 Nebraska vs. #10 Michigan State ABC

The biggest games are Ohio State-Maryland (Ohio State's getting better by the week, Maryland is explosive and an upset would really mess with the Big Ten East), Wisconsin-Northwestern (of course!) and Nebraska-Michigan State (this might be the best game on the whole Big Ten calendar this season -- the winner could very well be in pole position to win the conference championship game in December).
