You may have noticed some references around B5Q recently to the "Kielbasa Kings Sports Extravaganza," and they have only unintentionally come without introduction. Today, we can finally change that as we announce the newest additions to our community: Jake "Kuba" Kocorowski and Scott "The Polish Rifle" Wisniewski. Together, they produce the Kielbasa Kings Sports Extravaganza, a podcast on all things Wisconsin -- mostly Badgers, but also anything ranging from Brewers, Bucks and Packers talk to beer, sausages and so much more.
Jake has already begun contributing some blog content, beginning with his coverage of the Russell Wilson Passing Academy stopping in Madison last weekend. Saturday, he posted a feature from his and Scott's exclusive interview with former Badger Jared Berggren, who recently signed with the Orlando Magic's summer league team. The full interview can be heard on the first episode of the Kielbasa Kings podcast, which will go live on the site tonight at 7:30 p.m. CT. Every episode of the Kielbasa Kings podcast will run on Blog Talk Radio (Kielbasa King page here) and be available for download or streaming on iTunes shortly after the conclusion of each episode. We'll also post each episode here on B5Q.
Many of our readers might already be familiar with Kielbasa Kings, which has operated independently since July 2012 at kielbasakingssportsextravaganza.podbean.com. With coverage of live events at UW and other colleges across the state and interviews with former Badgers athletes, Jake and Scott have built a fantastic Internet experience for fans of all things Wisconsin. Strictly related to UW, they've interviewed NFL players Joe Thomas, Kevin Zeitler, Travis Frederick, Nick Toon, Brandon Williams, Jake Byrne, Jay Valai, Devin Smith, Marcus Cromartie and Shelton Johnson, as well as former Wisconsin basketball star and current Memphis Grizzlies forward Jon Leuer.
As mentioned above, they cover all things Wisconsin, and that's brought additional interviews with the likes of Packers T.J. Lang, Mason Crosby, Datone Jones and Johnathan Franklin, as well as national athletes and entertainers like Duke basketball legend Christian Laettner and Billy Corben, the director of ESPN 30 for 30's "Broke" and "The U."
With such fantastic coverage from just two Wisconsin fans, Jake and Scott long felt like they'd be a natural fit for Bucky's 5th Quarter. Now that they're here, we're thrilled at the opportunity to grow our community.
First and foremost, though, B5Q will forever and always be a Wisconsin Badgers site. Upon visiting our homepage, you'll never have to worry about coming across Brewers, Bucks or Packers stories, and especially not anything related to Marquette.
But knowing that members of this community also live and die for some of these other teams, we decided to bring in everything Kielbasa Kings has to offer. To access all of their content, you can visit the new Kielbasa Kings hub on B5Q at http://www.buckys5thquarter.com/kielbasa-kings-sports-extravaganza-podcast. Each podcast post and anything Badgers-related will also reach our front page, so you won't have to go any further to get your UW content. But if you're interested in seeing the latest Packer Jake and Scott are chatting with, or to vent your frustrations on the Brewers and/or Bucks (sorry), the hub is your place to go.
Again, we'd like to stress that B5Q is going to always remain a Badgers site in name and content. Bringing Kielbasa Kings into the fold improves our offerings of UW analysis and commentary, and also brings a new element in the podcast that we've been looking forward to adding for a while now. We're also hoping to grow the B5Q community by giving you the chance to interact with other statewide fans and make our site your No. 1 destination for all things Wisconsin.
Should you have any suggestions or concerns about us achieving these goals, don't hesitate to reach out in the comments or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Honestly, we're only in the elementary stages of bringing Jake, Scott and the Kielbasa Kings show into the fold. This is a new endeavor that we're entirely confident will dramatically improve the B5Q experience, and the No. 1 goal is to further build this site into a community. Your feedback is critical in this process, as this community is built around you, the readers (and now, hopefully, listeners).
Finally, we'd like to wrap up this introductory post with a few lines of bio from Jake and Scott. They're honestly great guys, and we know they'll be terrific additions to the fold. You can also find them on Twitter @KielbasaKingsWI, @ScottWisniewsk2 and @KKSE_Kuba.
