When you think of Matt Hubley, you think of someone with versatility. After all, it's rare that you find an athlete that manages to earn all-conference honors on both offense and defense. During his four year career at Catholic Memorial, Hubley's seen time at Cornerback, Free Safety, Strong Safety before moving to the front seven on defense as well as playing running back. He led his team to the Division Three State Championship with his senior years performance.

Hubley's also developed a local reputation as someone who could play with a great deal of pain, as in the summer of his junior season he broke his scapula and dislocated his elbow and ended up not missing a game. Add that to the athleticism and skills he brought to the table, and it's a little surprise he's been on the Badgers radar since he threw a 4.52 40-yard dash time at their summer camp.

The only question regarding Hubley is where exactly he fits. The expectation is that he's going to be in the mix at Strong Safety, but he's already large for the position. He could very well be in the mix as a rush linebacker sooner than later. But as Catholic Memorial coach Bill Young says? Hubley's got the skills to make his own place in Madison.

"He's got incredible feet. He's got one speed - and that's 100 miles per hour."

Verbal commitment Verbally committed October 23rd, 2012

As mentioned before, Hubley was on the former coaches radar after showing a low 4.5 40-yard dash time. He received notice from schools like Boise State, Colorado State, Iowa State and Minnesota, but the only offers on Hubley were FCS schools. But after Darius Latham's decommit, and with an eye-popping senior season? Bielema made an offer to Hubley, and Hubley was only too happy to be a solid verbal.
