Leon Jacobs isn't your average two-star recruit. He spent his sophomore and junior seasons playing on the hardwood, winning a national slam dunk championship along the way. And he was a running back who was stuck on a team that went winless and he also missed time with a hip injury. So, in short, Jacobs is a raw talent coming into Madison.
But with that being said, Jacobs has a chance to be somebody on the field when he gets a chance. Why? As a Gary Andersen recruit, he's coming in with a skill set based on tremendous athleticism. And the fact of the matter is, when you have an athletic guy who wants to get after people on defense? Good health willing, Leon Jacobs is a true sleeper prospect who is pumped to play defense in Dave Aranda's new 3-4 scheme:
"I like to hit people, plain and simple."

Verbally committed January 26th, 2013
As Jacobs is an aforementioned commit from the Gary Andersen era, the Badgers were a late comer to recruiting Jacobs. Jacobs committed to Fresno State on December 17, after taking visits to James Madison and San Diego State. A visit from Aranda on January 15 was enough to get Jacobs to decommit, though he did end up taking a visit to Wake Forest before he made his visit and ensuing commitment to the Badgers.
With this commit, Jacobs becomes Golden Valley High School's first graduate to earn a scholarship to a FBS school.
Officially verbally committed to Wisconsin!! #badgers #linebackers
