Junior Frank Kaminsky has been named Big Ten Player of the Week after averaging 26 points and 4.7 rebounds per game in three Wisconsin victories last week, according to a conference press release Monday.
The honor is Kaminsky's first Big Ten POTW honor and UW's first since Ben Brust earned it in February of last season.
Kaminsky started the team's busy week with a bang, scoring a school-record 43 points in a 103-85 win over North Dakota last Tuesday. Kaminsky shot 16-of-19 from the field in that contest, which included hitting all six of his 3-point attempts.
The seven-footer continued to shoot the ball well later in the week, as the Badgers improved to 6-0. He added 14 points versus Bowling Green and a team-high 21 points against Oral Roberts. For the week, Kaminsky shot 67.4% (29-of-43) from the field, 66.7% (8-of-12) on 3-pointers and 85.7% (12-of-14) from the free throw line.
