While the Badger recruiting fans were excited about our Kolton Miller's and Joe Mixon's, the Badgers sent out an offer to an in-state prospect, and the response was a delightful in its rapidity. Grafton native Beau Benzschawel received an offer from Ben Strickland this morning, and the two-star Syracuse commit flipped to Wisconsin.
The exciting thing Benzschawel brings to the table is that he's got skills to play two positions that the Badgers have needed some depth from in this class. Benzschawel is currently a tight end, but he has previous high school experience at offensive tackle, and as a 6-foot-6, 240 pound prospect? He has the frame to grow into another Ricky Wagner type if that's the way the Badgers want to go.
Benzschawel had offers from Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Iowa State and Wyoming to go along with his previous Syracuse commitment. He becomes the 17th commitment in the Badgers 2014 class, and with Ula Tolutau's mission and various roster moves, the Badgers may yet bring ten more scholarships into this class.
