Between Chris Borland, Mike Taylor and Ethan Armstrong, the Badgers have developed a fine linebacking corp in recent years. Now, Rochester's Garret Dooley looks to put his stamp onto the position. Rated by several services as a top 20 prospect in the state of Illinois in 2013, Dooley promises to be a strong run defender who was turned loose on the blitz as a senior. Rochester's coach, Derek Leonard, praised Dooley's instincts and aggressiveness, saying he went from a very good linebacker to one of the best he's ever seen.

It's a necessity that Dooley's going to have to add some muscle to his frame to compete play-to-play on the Big Ten level. But if he can keep his athleticism and not lose much off of his 4.59 40-time? He's going to be someone who has the absolute potential to generate more than a few collegiate accolades in his future.

Dooley also rushed for 1450 yards and 24 touchdowns as a running back his senior season and generated all-conference accolades on both sides of the ball. He also earned an all-conference nod for his play on the baseball diamond and was named a two-time Academic All-State.

Verbal commitment Verbally committed February 26, 2012

The recruitment of Dooley became more important with the transition to a 3-4 defense. But outside of a late flirtation with Penn State, Dooley's been a solid verbal commitment to the Badgers. It's basically been him and Austin Ramesh, whom the Badgers have been expecting to fill linebacker spots until the late commitment of Leon Jacobs.

The Badgers beat out Illinois, Indiana, Northern Illinois and Vanderbilt, as well as the aforementioned Penn State, to gain the services of Dooley. He also received interest from Ball State and Central Michigan, but they dropped off once the AQ schools started making offers to Dooley.
