Brookfield Central's Chikwe Obasih is not your typical Wisconsin-bred defensive lineman. Rated by several services as the top collegiate football prospect in the state in 2013, Obasih is an agile pass rusher off the edge with a great motor. Central's head coach Jaime Meulemans called Obasih the best defensive lineman he's had in 21 years of coaching.

Though he needs to add weight to his frame and get stronger, if Obasih can retain his agility and quickness at a heavier weight, he could develop into a monster for the Badgers down the line as a weakside defensive end. He is no slouch in the classroom either: Obasih was looking into attending Yale and has hopes of entering Wisconsin's School of Business one day.

The name Chikwe is short for his full name, Chikwerendu. Obasih's father is from Nigeria originally and the whole family has an athletic background. His sister, Chidera, runs track on scholarship at Minnesota.

The recruitment of Obasih was vital for Wisconsin after the other top in-state defensive lineman spurned the Badgers for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. A.J. Natter of Milton and Obasih were considered the two top players overall in Wisconsin for the 2013 class. Ben Strickland deserves credit for pulling Obasih into the fold during the defensive end's junior season, after UW offered him last February.

Obasih selected Wisconsin over Iowa, Iowa State, Minnesota, Ole Miss, Purdue and Vanderbilt. He also received late offers from Illinois and Cal, as well as interest from Michigan. Obasih was invited over the summer to the prestigious all-star camp "The Opening" out on the Nike campus in Beaverton, Ore. In addition, reports from the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl practices tabbed Obasih as one of the standout performers.
