As the olympics creep closer, Yahoo! is asking us what our favorite olympic moments are.
To keep a Badgers spin on this, my favorite olympic moment didn't happen too long ago. The 2010 gold medal game between the United States and Canada in the winter olympics was truly an electric event. Working at 670 The Score in Chicago (where neither hockey nor the olympics are huge), it was really cool to see that game take over the airwaves that weekend. Everyone was into it as the Americans made a run to the gold medal game before ultimately falling to Canada in Vancouver.
Four Badgers played in that game as Dany Heatley won the gold with Canada and Ryan Suter, Brian Rafalski and Joe Pavelski won the silver for the United States.
Canada and the United States also met in the women's ice hockey gold medal game that year, a game that featured nine -- yes, nine -- Badges. Meaghan Mikkelson and Carla MacLeod won the gold for Canada and Molly Engstrom, Meghan Duggan, Hilary Knight, Erika Lawler, Jessie Vetter, Kerry Weiland and Jinelle Zaugg won the silver for the U.S. The amount of Badgers in that game says a lot about Mark Johnson's program. Very impressive.
