Badger Bits: Will Wisconsin Ever Bring Back Baseball?

Do you ever dream of the Badgers playing in the college world series? Well, you might want to keep dreaming.
Do you ever dream of the Badgers playing in the college world series? Well, you might want to keep dreaming.

Hey everybody, just a quick reminder before we dive into the links: Wisconsin football student tickets go on sale in about a half hour, so if you can be sure to sang them before the sell out! They've sold out the past 18 years in a row, and I would imagine they'll go pretty quickly again, after the Badgers found their way back to Pasadena.

Andy Baggot of Madison.com has an interesting article about the chances of baseball making a comeback at Wisconsin. The Badgers have been the only Big Ten school without a baseball team since 1991, when the program was eliminated to fix the athletic department's budget woes. Since then, current Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez has remained adamant that baseball is not going to return to campus any time soon. Baggot says a new program would face several obstacles, not the least of which is Title IX.

What do you think? Will baseball make a glorious return to Wisconsin? What needs to happen before baseball can return?

Again, if you're a UW-Madison student reading this around 7:30, go buy your football tickets. You can buy all of the home games, as well as single road game tickets. If you're a men's hockey fan, student tickets go on sale at 7:30 AM CST as well.

Brian Bennett has his Big Ten mailblog posted from last Friday- go check it out!

There's a cool read over at ESPN about whether all the scandals in college football have damaged the game's credibility

And finally, former UW basketball player Larry Petty was arrested again over the weekend.
