Badger Bits: Baseball Standing in Russell Wilson's Way

I'm willing to bet Russell Wilson wouldn't mind standing behind the Wisconsin offensive line.
I'm willing to bet Russell Wilson wouldn't mind standing behind the Wisconsin offensive line.

Morning, gang, and happy Friday! Only 76 days until Wisconsin kicks off the 2011 season against UNLV.

The Russell Wilson soap opera is still unfolding, and Andy Baggot of Madison.com writes that choosing between Auburn and Wisconsin isn't the issue -- Wilson needs to pick between baseball and football. To me, it sounds like Wilson will be a Badger if he decides to play college football next year.

Again, despite the flurry of news and new rumors, there are still more questions than answers at this point. Wilson would need to figure out when he could leave the Asheville Tourists, and how much of his signing bonus he would need to pay back to the Rockies organization (if at all). Again, this is the biggest offseason story for the Badgers, so be sure to keep checking B5Q for updates. We'll keep you posted. For the latest updates, you can follow @B5Q on Twitter.

Adam Mertz of the Capital Times writes about the lack of traditional TV coverage for the UW-NIU game at Soldier Field.

Brian Bennett of the Big Ten blog says Wisconsin has the best stable of running backs, lead by Montee Ball and James White.

Check out the latest edition of Varsity, the official online magazine of Wisconsin Athletics.

Aaron Musfeldt of Off Tackle Empire has everything you need to know about the Bugeater State, more commonly known as Nebraska.

And surprise, surprise -- Jim Delany is still defending the B1G new division names.

Have a great weekend!
