Badger Bits: Is Wisconsin the best fit for Russell Wilson?

Happy Wednesday! Did you know there are only 98 days until the Badgers kick off the 2011 season? Not that I'm counting or anything.

In case you missed it yesterday, Adam wrote that former North Carolina State quarterback Russell Wilson visited Auburn yesterday, and plans to visit Wisconsin in June. Tom Mulhern of Madison.com also wrote that the Badgers are still very much in the running for the senior signal caller. Also, Heather Dinich of ESPN.com thinks Wisconsin is Wilson's best option because of its pro-style offense, and her colleague Adam Rittenberg agrees with her.

The Badgers certainly make a lot of sense for Wilson, if he even wants to play football in the fall. Many of the pieces are in place for a decent run through the Big Ten schedule- all the Badgers need in my mind is a proven option at quarterback. But can the Badgers compete with the *ahem* extra compensation offered by select SEC teams? Or would switching to a pro-style offense be too much for Wilson to handle on short notice? Vote in the poll!

Andy Baggot of Madison.com writes that the UW wants a "one and done" playoff format in the inevitable Big Ten hockey tournament.

Check out Rittenberg's Big Ten mailblog from Tuesday! Some good questions are in there, including a few about future Big Ten Championship Game sites.

Baggot also writes about an eye-opening pick for Wisconsin's athletics Hall of Fame.

Bob Wolfley of the Journal-Sentinel writes that the Badgers' 2012 recruiting class is getting a few accolades.

Finally, Jeff Potrykus of the Journal-Sentinel writes about the Badgers' APR numbers for the 2009-2010 academic year.
