Morning, ya'll. Here are your Badger Bits for Monday, September 20th.
One perceptive way to describe Wisconsin sophomroe linebacker Chirs Borland's return to the starting lineup last Saturday would be 'brief.' Borland re-aggravated his surgically repaired shoulder on his sixth snap of the game, and did not return for the remainder of the game. While the team has not given any official word about the extent of Borland's injury, if the prognosis is not positive it is very likely that the Badgers will redshirt Borland, for the remainder of the season. Wisconsin head coach Bret Bielema commented on the matter following Saturday's game:
"I don't know the answer to it," he said. "We definitely want to do what is best for Chris. That is the important part... But you can't just keep going (wondering if) he's not going to be there or he's going to be there."
Losing Borland for the season would be a huge loss, but not a necessarily crippling one. Wisconsin is lucky to have fellow sophomore Mike Taylor and seniors Culmer St. Jean and Blake Sorenson on the linebacker depth chart, all of whom have starting experience. Sorenson, St. Jean, and Taylor all combined for 5 tackles against Arizona State.
