Leuer returns to practice, return still up in air

From UW Athletic Communications:

Junior forward Jon Leuer has not appeared in a game or practiced since injuring his wrist vs. Purdue on Jan. 9. Until now.

Leuer was cleared to return to practice Monday morning and joined his teammates on the court during today's practice at the Kohl Center. Last week, the Orono, Minn., native began shooting after practice, but he has now been officially cleared to return to the court.

There is still no timetable set for his return to game action.

"I'll have to see him on the floor. It'll be tryouts again when he gets back to practice," head coach Bo Ryan said of Leuer at his weekly press conference Monday. "If he comes back to practice he's going to have to try to get back into the lineup I would think."

Leuer underwent surgery without complication on Jan. 12 to repair a fractured left wrist. He started the first 16 games of the season and was the Badgers' second-leading scorer at the time of the injury, averaging 15.4 points per game. He also led the team with 6.2 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game.

In his absence, the 14th-ranked Badgers (19-6, 9-4) have boasted a 6-3 record. Wisconsin returns to the court Thursday at Minnesota. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. on ESPN.
