At this point, the only thing standing in the way of Wisconsin going to the Rose Bowl is an unlikely series of events that would put Wisconsin in the BCS National Championship Game.
The Badgers slightly increased their lead over Ohio State in the latest BCS standings released Sunday and moved up to No. 5. The Buckeyes are ranked No. 6, .0553 points behind Wisconsin.
With both teams finished for the regular season, that's a margin too large for Ohio State to make up before the final standings are released next Sunday.
The computers actually worked in Wisconsin's favor this week, but there are still two computers that have UW ranked No. 11 and No. 12. It's too bad we can't talk to computers, because I'd love to hear them explain to me how the Badgers are only the 12th best team in the country right now.
One would imagine Wisconsin's BCS title hopes are over too now. Even if Oregon and Auburn both lost Saturday, TCU and Stanford have sizeable leads on the Badgers and like UW, are done with the regular season.
It seems Wisconsin passing either TCU or Stanford is just as unlikely as Ohio State passing the Badgers. It's just not going to happen.
