Dan Fahey, a 6-3 guard from St. Ignatius College Prep in Chicago will join the UW men's basketball team as a walk-on. He confirmed via e-mail Friday that he will attend summer workouts.
Fahey was a high school teammate of Nnanna Egwu, a 2011 recruit who has a scholarship offer from UW.
Fahey will be one of two walk-ons to join the UW basketball team. The Wisconsin State Journal reported Thursday that Jeremy Glover, a 6-3 guard from Flint High School in Oakton, Va. will join the team as a preferred walk-on.
Fahey said the coaches did not offer him a "preferred spot, but it's a done deal." With Glover and Fahey joining the team, UW's roster would be set at 17, including freshmen Diamond Taylor and Mike Bruesewitz who will be under scholarship.
St. Ignatius finished 21-7 last season losing in the Illinois State Regional Finals. Fahey hit a game-winning shot in the waning seconds of SICP's Regional Semi-final victory.
