It was another pretty quiet week but there were a couple recruits who had to cancel visits to Madison over the weekend. However, neither were due to lack of interest in UW, according to Evan Flood of Badger247. One of those players included five-star running back Joe Mixon from Oakley, Calif. Mixon had to cancel his unofficial visit due to flight issues, but Flood believes that may help UW set up an official visit instead, so it actually may benefit the Badgers in the long haul. Four-star offensive lineman Damien Mama -- offered by UW on April 16 -- was the other player who couldn't make the trip.
In other news, three-star cornerback Lubern Figaro released his top five, which included Wisconsin, Syracuse, Boston College, Michigan State and Vanderbilt. Figaro says he really likes how Wisconsin consistently wins Big Ten championships. From keeping close tabs on UW recruiting over recent months, the most common responses I've noticed for recruits choosing UW, or at least placing it as a finalist, are the coaching staff and recent on-field success. This doesn't come as a surprise but just goes to show the impact of national exposure from Big Ten championships and Rose Bowl appearances.
