Wisconsin Officially Posts Assistant Hockey Coaching Vacancy

When Bill Butters stepped down from his assistant coaching position at Wisconsin Nov. 7, it shocked the college hockey world. It also created a large void on the Badgers' coaching staff.

Butters noted at the time that he was stepping down to pursue his passion of ministry and teaching young athletes about faith.

"This is about my calling on my life," Butters said at the time of his resignation. "In 1980, I felt called by God to get into ministry, to tell players about faith, or share faith with them.

"I did that for a number of years, and that's where my true passion lies."

Wisconsin head coach Mike Eaves filled the vacancy at the time with former Badgers defenseman Matt Walsh. By all accounts, Walsh made a seamless transition to the Wisconsin bench.

Technically, Walsh was hired as a temporary replacement being that the job was in-season. Now that the season is over, the University has to open it up officially to the public. Obviously Walsh will be applying for the job, and would be considered the favorite to be hired on full-time.

Anyways, Wisconsin posted the job Thursday. Here is the official description:
