Greg M. Cooper-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire
It reportedly took more than 100 stitches to repair the damage to Bruesewitz's lower right leg following his bizarre practice injury. Time to step up, Sam Dekker.
Tom Lea of ESPN Wisconsin is reporting that the deep cut suffered by Badger forward Mike Bruesewitz on his right leg Tuesday required "well over 100 stitches" during surgery. The injury occurred on a fast break during practice when the senior somehow came in contact with an unprotected piece of metal on the basket support while diving out of bounds.
Even national writers are already chomping at the bit to declare Bruesewitz's absence the start of the Sam Dekker era in Madison. Bruesewitz started all 36 games for Wisconsin last season.
If Bruesewitz misses the full six weeks of his projected recovery, that would cost him four regular season games, including at Florida Nov. 14. Barring complications, he should be available no later than the Nov. 23 game against Creighton in Las Vegas.
