With the offseason reaching its apex of unbearable inactivity ahead of next week's Big Ten media days, Wisconsin released an updated roster for the first time this summer. Heights and weights are probably generally unreliable, but we nevertheless have our first look at what numbers freshmen and incoming transfers will be wearing.
The most notable addition to the roster is like Tanner McEvoy, the incoming JUCO transfer who will enter fall camp in a three-way battle for the starting quarterback job with Joel Stave and Curt Phillips. McEvoy will wear No. 5, and is currently listed at 6-foot-6, 215 pounds. Defensive back TJ Reynard, another JUCO transfer, gets No. 11 and is listed at 5-foot-11, 180 pounds. Juinor Jeffrey Lewis is also officially listed as a defensive back, confirming his switch from running back.
Among the notable freshmen listed are cornerbacks Sojourn Shelton (No. 2, and a fairly small 5-foot-9, 162 pounds) and Keelon Brookins (No. 24, 5-foot-11, 201 pounds), wide receiver Robert Wheelwright (No. 19, 6-foot-1, 179 pounds), running back Corey Clement (No. 6, 5-foot-11, 210 pounds) and defensive back Jakarrie Washington (No. 9, 5-foot-10, 170 pounds).
Granted, these numbers can and will change -- before we know who redshirts and whatnot, several numbers are given out to more than one player already. But now we what the likes of McEvoy, Reynard and Clement will wear, and that's another sign we're getting close to real football. Plus, you can also now adjust your NCAA Football 14 rosters accordingly.
