Wisconsin Makes Gary Andersen Hiring Official

Via a Thursday evening press release, Wisconsin has confirmed the hiring of former Utah State head coach Gary Andersen.

As the release indicates, Andersen will officially be announced in an press conference Friday morning at 10 a.m. CT at the Kohl Center. The press conference was initially slated for Thursday, but a snowstorm in Madison forced the postponement.

MADISON, Wis. -- Wisconsin Director of Athletics Barry Alvarez announced Thursday that Gary Andersen has been hired as the Badgers' head football coach. The UW Board of Regents unanimously approved the hire via conference call on Thursday.

Andersen becomes the 29th head coach in Wisconsin football history. He spent the previous four seasons as the head coach at Utah State, leading the Aggies to a 26-24 record.

In 2012, Utah State had the most successful season in school history, winning a school-record 11 games, going undefeated in the WAC and capturing its first outright league title since 1936. The Aggies defeated Toledo, 41-15, to win the 2012 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.

A news conference involving Coach Alvarez and Coach Andersen will be held tomorrow, Friday, beginning at 10 a.m. CT.
