Koenig reportedly narrowed his choices to Kansas, North Carolina and Wisconsin prior to the Jayhawks receiving a commitment from highly-rated in-state PG Connor Frankamp. This leaves the Badgers and the Tar Heels as Koenig's clear, stated leaders heading into his junior season, although Duke's late summer offer will make things interesting. Koenig took in the Badger football opener against UNLV with UW recruit Sam Dekker. This came days after Mark Miller reported Koenig will make three stops in ACC country during September. Rumors persist that Koenig will make a decision this month and Wisconsin is in great shape. He holds additional offers from Marquette, Virginia and Washington State, mong others, with interest from Arizona and Minnesota.

In June after his freshman season, Koenig became one of the youngest prospects to receive a scholarship offer from Bo Ryan. He received the offer from UNC after his sophomore campaign on a Feb. 18 visit to Chapel Hill and his Kansas offer followed the Jayhawk Invitational. Duke came on strong in July.
