Wisconsin ranked No. 18 in Week 2 AP Top 25

Like their standing in the Amway Coaches Poll, the Wisconsin Badgers are the highest rated team in the AP Top 25 released Tuesday. In the AP poll, the Badgers check in at No. 18, ahead of fellow 0-1 teams South Carolina and Clemson. That's a four-stop drop from the preseason AP poll for the Badgers. LSU, which defeated Wisconsin on Saturday, jumped one spot to No. 12. In the coaches poll, UW is No. 19.

ESPN report: Joel Stave could miss the season; no internal strife for UW

4

ESPN's report (link above) on Joel Stave's injury doesn't contain any new hard news, though it does have two enticing "sources say" tidbits.

First is that Stave could be out for the season with this shoulder injury. We don't yet know if this current issue is tied to the injury Stave suffered in the Capital One Bowl, though I imagine we'll hear something before long.

Second is that ESPN's source says there was "no internal strife" at halftime of Saturday's game. That's important because some Internet reports have suggested that Melvin Gordon was pushing for Stave to start the game, and/or was pushing hard for Stave to enter the game after McEvoy struggled. Those reports have suggested that Gordon's "benching" in the second half -- he received just four carries after halftime -- was tied to some disagreement, but that seems pretty far-fetched to me. That would be so incredibly petty from the coaching staff to bench the star running back because he spoke out about his choice of quarterback. Also, today's news indicates that Stave was never going to be available for the LSU game, nobody what players or fans might've heard.

Buckle up, friends. The season is heating up.

Wisconsin ranked 19th in Amway Coaches Poll

+

Frankly, polls mean much less in this College Football Playoff era. For those interested, though, Wisconsin is No. 19 after its loss to LSU on Saturday. The Badgers are one of three teams who lost this weekend that are ranked, and they're ranked above the other two: South Carolina and Clemson. Wisconsin also began the season ranked 14th in the coaches poll. LSU, after beginning 13th, is now 12th.

Joel Stave will miss time due to shoulder injury

The Badgers announced Tuesday that quarterback Joel Stave and tight end T.J. Watt will both miss time due to injuries.

Check out this Wisconsin tailgate in Houston

These Badgers fans did it right. Throughout last week, we solicited (and will do so each week -- send 'em our way!) photos, videos and stories from Wisconsin fans tailgating in Houston, and these guys and girls came through. The first three or so minutes have a pretty Hangover-ish vibe (in a good way), but if you ask me, the parking-lot tailgate really kicks everything up a notch. Well done, friends.

The Big Ten's newest TV spot gets the 'Game of Thrones' treatment

Did y'all see this over the weekend? If you're like me and elected to get outside during the holiday, probably not. Alas, this is pretty sweet -- it's a slowed-down version of the Big Ten's latest ad with the "Game of Thrones" theme laid over. Anything GoT-related has great odds to go viral, but this is pretty well done. Slowing the video down also lets you see some of the hidden "Easter Eggs" (particularly clever for the B1G), such as that Camp Randall Stadium is actually Jumping Around.

Week 2 depth chart: Tanner McEvoy alone at QB1

The mighty "OR" is gone, leaving Tanner McEvoy has the sole starter on Wisconsin's Week 2 depth chart.
