Tailgating Question

I know there've been a few other recent posts on tailgating, but I'm looking for a specific kind of info. As has been stated before, the Wisconsin gameday experience is a little different because it's downtown. But, having been down to the stadium a few times since moving here last year, I know that there are still some pretty traditional tailgate spots set up at folks houses and in parking lots. When I say traditional, I mean lawn games, homemade food and moderate drinking, not college kids with kegs and cold hot dogs.

I'm looking for advice on finding a good tailgate like that to join. Should I just go walk around with some beers and try and invite myself in or does anyone know of a group of people currently tailgating in that fashion that my wife and I could join? We promise to bring homemade baked beans, plenty of beer and we even have a Packers canopy if needed. Oh and we have a truck if there's room for a literal tailgate, but I have my doubts about that one.
