Entering his senior season, Wisconsin right tackle Rob Havenstein was a natural selection to represent the Badgers at Big Ten media days. Monday in Chicago, Havenstein appeared at the Hilton Chicago along with Melvin Gordon, Warren Herring and head coach Gary Andersen to discuss all things Wisconsin as fall camp approaches.
As we've come to expect from UW linemen, Havenstein's well spoken and gives honest, genuinely interesting answers. He mentions Michigan State as a favorite Big Ten stadium to play in, discusses how he and the rest of Wisconsin's linemen are keeping Gordon's Heisman hype in perspective, touches on last year's injury issues and much more.
"It's pretty to cool be brought down [to Chicago]," Havenstein said. "With guys like Melvin, coach [Andersen] and [Herring], it's an honor to even be considered for the event, coming down here. I'm just trying to play the best football I can. I can't control what people think, what people say or what people put me on what [preseason award watch] list, what people don't think I should be on what list. Any list I do make, it's an honor to be on."
