Though Wisconsin's 2014 roster, released Friday, revealed some surprising departures, the Badgers' odds of winning the inaugural College Football Playoff have risen, according to Bovada.
The betting service has given the Badgers 33/1 odds to win the playoff, tied with the likes of Florida, South Carolina and Stanford for the 12th-best odds in the country. With that perspective, the odds indicate a favorable outlook for Wisconsin's season, at least in the eyes of Vegas. The Badgers are widely perceived as the favorites in a weaker-on-paper Big Ten West Division, and without a clear conference favorite this year, the Big Ten championship game could be a "all bets are off" scenario. The winner of that game will then be poised for serious contention in the playoff.
Bovada also released over/under win totals for FBS teams. Wisconsin's is 9 1/2 games, which seems proper considering the common perception that 9-10 wins is a reasonable expectation for the Badgers at this juncture.
