Sam Dekker leaves Wisconsin practice with lower-leg injury

12

Per several media reports, Wisconsin star forward Sam Dekker suffered a lower-leg injury in practice on Friday. According to Jeff Potrykus of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Dekker suffered the injury during the period of practice open to reporters. He hobbled off the court with help from trainer Henry Perez-Guerra; Zack Miller of BadgerBlitz.com says Dekker wasn't putting any pressure on his left foot.

The official word from UW is that Dekker is day-to-day with a lower-leg injury. That seems to indicate the severity isn't extreme, though it also seems likely that Dekker won't participate in UW's Red/White Scrimmage on Sunday. That will tipoff at 1 p.m.

Fans don't need a reminder of Dekker's importance to this year's Badgers team; after averaging 12.4 points per game as a sophomore, Dekker joined teammate Frank Kaminsky on the preseason All-Big Ten team released by the conference last week.
