Wisconsin senior captain John Ramage transitions to his pro career by signing a two-year contract with the Calgary Flames.

The Calgary Flames signed Wisconsin defenseman John Ramage to an entry-level, two-year contract on Thursday, according to a press release from the team.

Ramage, a native of St. Louis, Mo., was the Flames' fourth-round pick (103rd overall) in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft and just finished his fourth and final season at Wisconsin. The Badgers' team captain finished his senior season with eight goals and 12 assists for 20 points and 65 penalty minutes in 42 games, all career highs.

The deal Ramage signed is two years in length, starting in 2013-14 with a base salary of $600,000 in each season (2013-14 and 2014-15) and an AAV of $900,000 (including entry-level performance bonuses).

Ramage was Wisconsin's eighth two-time captain. With the Badgers claiming the Broadmoor Trophy as WCHA playoff champions this past season, all eight two-time captains either led their teams to a national or conference championship.
