Halftime: Wisconsin 44, Nebraska 23: Badgers Pour It In

Mary Langenfeld-USA TODAY Sports

Wisconsin shoots 8-of-13 from behind the three-point line to take a 21-point lead at the half against the Cornhuskers.

The cliche "they just couldn't miss" is kind of terrible. As far as I know, no team has ever hit 100 percent of its shots in a college basketball game. And again, it would be a lie to say the Badgers couldn't miss in the first half against the Cornhuskers -- they missed five three pointers and six two-point shots, five three-point shots and a free throw.

But really, I'm splitting hairs here. The Badgers put together an effective field goal percentage of 74.1 in the first half behind 8-of-13 shooting from the three-point line (16-of-27 overall) as they exploded to a 44-23 halftime lead over Nebraska on a snowy Tuesday night in Madison.

Sam Dekker scored 13 points off the bench on the back of three three-pointers (4-5 FG, 3-4 3P, 2-2 FT) to lead all scorers. Traevon Jackson (3-4 FG, 1-2 3P) scored seven points and added a half-best five assists. Jared Berggren scored seven points as well and broke Rashard Griffith's the school record for blocks with three in the first half to get to 125 for his career.

Ryan Evans scored seven points on 3-of-8 shooting and hit his only free throw of the game -- off a jump shot, no less.

Dylan Talley led Nebraska with 12 first-half points (5-9 FG, 2-4 3P), but the rest of the Nebraska offense was largely held in check. The Huskers managed just 74.6 points per 100 possessions against the Badgers' absurd 146.7 mark.
