Hoooollllleeeeee cow is it early to start talking about the NCAA tourney. But Lunardi (who appears to have been parked in front of a buffet during the entire college basketball offseason) has just updated his bracket so what the hell I'll play along and shoot for the moon (had to figure out a way to justify that GIF, right?).
He made a point today in his column on tourney resumes and his associated video segment that the Badgers have wins over seven teams that are in consideration for a tourney appearance right now - easily the most of anyone in the country. He also praised our ability to win on the road, at a neutral site, and at home, as well as our ability to win the slow games against the Virginia's of the league and the higher paced, higher scoring games like we've already seen a few times this year. So what did all of that earn us?
A two seed. And not just any second seed. The first second seed. The number one number two seed. The ultimate penultimate seed? (That doesn't sound quite right.) At any rate, we're on the cusp of a 1 seed if the tourney were to start today. As usual, click to embiggen.
I like the bracket. Wichita would be a potentially tough matchup in the Sweet 16, but Baylor, Oregon, and Louisville are all winnable games.
Thoughts on this way-too-early-but-what-the-hell bracket?
