SB Nation BlogPoll College Football Top 25 Rankings
BlogPoll is back on B5Q after a one-week hiatus. Some difficulties on my end led to no ballot being cast last week, so that's why you don't see any deltas above. Apologies for that.
As you'd expect, Notre Dame is up top after Kansas State and Oregon both lost. I did keep Oregon in my top five, however, just ahead of Ohio State. The Ducks did fall at home, though it came to a tough two-loss Stanford team. The Buckeyes, while still undefeated, have had their close calls. Normally, you'd like to slot the undefeated teams above the one-loss teams, but is that always where you have to draw the line? Would you then put Ohio State above one-loss Alabama? I don't think Ohio State is any better, and I also don't think it's any better than Oregon.
At the bottom, Utah State returns to the ballot at No. 24 after an overtime win at Louisiana Tech. At the spot below, I struggled with No. 25 before eventually deciding on three-loss Mississippi State. Above them, you'll see a few one-loss teams in Rutgers, Kent St., and Northern Illinois. It's interesting to see the disparity between them and Mississippi St. at the bottom -- though I did put three-loss Oklahoma St. at No. 20. The Cowboys have two tough losses (vs. Texas and at Kansas St.), and I think think it's fair to make the case for them beating those lower one-loss teams on a neutral field more often than not.
Any thoughts? What'd I get right or wrong?
