Homered?
Did we get homered? I generally disagree with blaming the ref for a loss. But I have to know, does anyone else feel like we got homered? I am not talking about the safety that wasn't or the run off at the end of the first half, I am talking about holding. I went to the game, then watched it again on TV shortly afterward, and it couldn't help but notice that there was only 1 holding call against Oregon. I first noticed it during the game and I found it hard to believe that a team that runs so much to the outside and runs so much play action held on only 1 play. While watching the replay I noticed a number of holding calls that seemed blatant. Some of which were on scoring plays for Oregon. Does anyone else feel the same way? Or am I just trying to sooth the pain?

I don't think it was like this, but...
There is indeed differences between conferences in how tight refs make some calls, most notably holding and pass interference. This is much more apparent in roundball where there is substantial difference on the amount of contact allowed. It is easy to see how this can be interpreted as biased.
Sometimes it works in your favor, and sometimes it doesn’t . Some day they might put all refs in a single pool for consistency. Until then it is just part of the game.

I noticed one missed hold.
After watching the game again, I noticed a miss hold on the 4th down Oregon converted before their 4th quarter field goal. #55 blatantly held Muldoon and got away with it. Other than that though, I didn’t notice anything obvious.

Let's get hammered
And forget about being homered.
By the way, this is not meant to be mocking in nature… I just couldn’t resist.
On the bright side, Ball will be back next year! Woohoo! Let’s hope he can match his production from this year and carry the team back to another Rose Bowl!
