Bret Bielema updated Devin Smith's status on the Big Ten coaches' conference call today, and said he will not play the rest of this season after undergoing a procedure. I'm still looking for an official diagnosis, but we'll find out soon enough. Obviously this is a big blow to the Badgers defense, but the hit could be mitigated if Marcus Cromartie can play at a consistent level for the rest of the season. Smith will take a medical redshirt this season so he can play in 2012.
