LIVE GAMETHREAD: No. 11 Wisconsin @ Nebraska

Wisconsin Badgers at Nebraska Cornhuskers, Dec 27, 2011 8:00 PM CST

Big Ten Men's Basketball

No. 11 Wisconsin vs. Nebraska

vs

11-2 (0-0 Big Ten)
8-3 (0-0 Big Ten)

Dec. 27, 2011 8:00 PM CT

Devaney Center (13,595), Lincoln, NE

TV: ESPN2 (Dave Armstrong, Dan Dakich)

Radio: 1070 FM / 1310 AM (Matt Lepay, Mike Lucas)

All-time Series: UNL leads 10-6

Last Meeting: UW won 78-41 (11/22/98)

As discussed earlier today, Wisconsin completes its welcoming party duties tonight in Lincoln after already baptizing Nebraska into the Big Ten in football earlier this fall. The basketball matchup doesn't carry the same luster though.

The big concern for the host Huskers are the injuries to several key players. At best, starting center Brian Jorge Diaz (feet) could play spot minutes off the bench if necessary. Sixth man Dylan Talley (thigh) will be absent on the wing, while senior guard Caleb Walker (back) is going to attempt to play tonight.

Jordan Taylor looked much better against Mississippi Valley State last week after getting some rest for his ankle during finals week, so I anticipate a solid Badger effort across the board in this one. Comment away!

And now we're looking live ...

Apparently Nebraska introduced dozens of former Husker hoops “greats” before hand.

Not a good start

Standing around and Taylor misses a 3 up against the shot clock. NU responds with a swish. 3-0 Corn.

Other than Taylor's forced jumper a second ago

the Badgers seemed to have settled into their offense more. McCray just won’t miss.

Gasser guarding Bo Spencer so far

Spencer is creating his own shots, but not connecting.

UW ahead 13-10.

Pretty move by Bruiser

Gets ball in post, faces up the bigger defender, and squeezes in a layup after driving around Ubel. Badgers lead 24-12.

Poor Call by the officials on the block

definitely.

Berggren tried to sell it and it came back to bite him.

Not sure what Gasser is doing out there

He’s thrown 3 bad passes that have been picked off by Nebraska in the first half.

UW leads 33-26 at the break.

Yikes

Cheap foul on Berggren, then gets the rebound stolen away from him and fouls the guy. Now the Ice Berg is on the bench right away with 3 fouls.

I hope no one out there is still hatin on Ryan Evans

His offense has carried UW for several stretches this yr. Big hit by him from the top of the key. Wisconsin continues to shoot remarkably well (>55%) from the field as Gasser nails an open trey.

Finally a 3 for Brust.

All the attempts are from deep. Love having that weapon against a zone.

Too much dribble by JT

silly turnover; luckily Brust hustles back to take a charge on Spencer. Not a good game for the Nebraska PG…

“Please don’t schedule us against Wisconsin for any more B1G sport openers”

Happy Virginian, Sconnie for life.
