Good morning all- linkage is a bit light today as I am moving back onto campus. Anyway, here are your Badger Bits for Wednesday, August 25th!
Capping off a major reshuffling on the offensive line, Wisconsin head coach Bret Bielema has decided to move senior lineman John Moffitt back to center from left guard. Sophomore Travis Frederick, who previously had been the backup center, will replace Moffitt at left guard. Bielema stressed in an interview with Tom Mulhern of Madison.com that the switch was made because of all the injuries the team has sustained during fall camp.
"We really wanted to get Ryan moved over to right guard,'' Bielema said. "As we went through fall camp, I didn't think John got enough reps at center, he was concentrating so much at guard. These last three days before we jump fall go into UNLV prep we wanted to put John (at center).''
It doesn't seem likely that Moffitt will have a problem with the switch- he previously started at center during the 2008 season, and has expressed his fondness for the position in various (and hilarious) interviews like this one:
More Badger Bits after the jump!
The team continued their fall camp with two full pads practices on Monday. As always, you can find the practice reports on UWBadgers.com (Or just click here and here).
Sportscenter's Big Ten preview was up and running yesterday- the Badgers were mentioned as one of the biggest obstacles facing Ohio State this year, along with Iowa.
Andy Baggot of Madison.com has analyzed Wisconsin's non-conference schedule. The Badgers are the only team among the Top 25 that doesn't face a non-con opponent with a winning 2009 record.
ESPN.com's Adam Rittenberg has started a series on his Big Ten blog: Which player is the most valuable? Rittenberg started with the quarterback spot, where Scott Tolzien was given the edge over Terrelle Pryor.
There are two nice pieces out about Jay Valai and how he has been working to come back from a concussion he sustained during fall camp.
And finally, UWBadgers.com has a feature about Gabe Carimi and the donation he made to Locks of Love.
Only 10 days until kickoff!
